Acid Regeneration in Steel Pickling Plants

Pickling plants treat steel strip with concentrated hydrochloric acid. This process removes contamination and deposits from the steel strip, resul- ting in a consistently high quality surface finish.

Under the stringent environmental regulations and to achieve an efficient process, the acid used has to be recycled. In an acid regeneration plant, the hydrochloric acid is recovered from the pickle liquors and can thus be returned to the steel pickling process. HOBAS Industrial Products are highly corrosion resistant and therefore ideally suited to use in the metal industry. Pipelines and process equipment such as the scrubbers in acid regeneration plants are for example made from HOBAS Products.
