AMI is pleased to announce the dates of the next international conference, Plastic Pipe Fittings and Joints 2009, which will be held in Cologne, Germany, from 7-9 December 2009 at the Maritim Hotel. There will be a drinks reception on the first evening followed by a two-day programme of expert presentations.

Designing and moulding pipe fittings is a very skilled task.  There is a wide range of shapes and sizes, and a precision fit with which the pipe is required to create a leakproof seal.  The fitting material must be compatible with the pipe and the joining process, resistant to the contents of the pipe (ranging from potable water to industrial chemicals) and the pressure that the pipe is required to withstand, either external or internal.  The additional complication is that pipe grade polymers are generally not ideal for injection moulding.
